Frequently Asked Questions

  • A high quality custom home will start at about $1,000,000 in construction costs and go up from there. Going below that amount would compromise on quality, size, or both. Higher-end homes, high-performance projects, and truly luxury custom residences would start at around $2,000,000 and up.

Smaller projects and vacation cabins can come in under those estimates depending on complexity of site and size of the project you are looking for.

Whether you are looking to spend $500,000 on a weekend getaway cabin or $5,000,000 on a luxurious home for your family, we can help advise you on budgeting and other decisions needed along the path to a beautiful custom home.

Knowing that this is one of the most frequent questions that come up from prospective clients, we expended on this topic in a blog post.

  • Most clients take 8-12 months to make all the decisions needed for their custom home project. In some cases it may take longer. There are also other factors that can impact the schedule like the local permitting and review requirements, homeowner associations, historic design overlays and other factors. Estimating 12-months for the design phase is a safe timeframe to assume when first starting to consider your project. We develop more accurate schedules once we have settled on an agreement to work together and we can commence on the predesign research.

Along with the design phase, you can also assume about 12-months for the construction of your custom home. From start of design to final completion of construction is around 2 years in total.
